Nokia Magnifier

There have been a few occasions when I wanted to have a magnifier with me. When I realized I did not have one, the only solution was to go to a store and get it, of course I lost it three days later. Well, Nokia has released the Nokia Magnifier, an application that allows you to read those tiny little manuscripts and distinguish small drawings. It works great with a 5 mega pixel camera such as the N95 one. Furthermore, the application lets you take pictures of whatever you magnify. Get the application here, or scan the QR Code below to get it straight from your device.

QR Code Readers for the N95

QR Codes are becoming more and more popular every day. They are popping out everywhere, magazines, newspapers, bus stops, gravestones! Therefore, I decided to write a post about the best QR Code readers for the N95. If you don't know what a QR Code is, click here.

First of all, there is the Nokia QR Code reader which already comes pre-installed in the N95. It's not bad, it's fast, it barely fails to read a code, but it has a problem. When you scan a QR Code Business Card it doesn't recognize it as a Contact, but just as text. These means that you will have to type the phone number, name, and all other details by yourself. Luckily, there are a few more scanners for the phone:

i-nigma

This reader is one of the best there are. It recognizes Business cards QR Codes and it even scans faster than the Nokia reader. Get it here

You can also use the Nokia scanner to download it straight from your device:

Kaywa

One of the first readers to appear on the web was Kaywa, no wonder it is the most popular application. It's a pretty good reader, the fastest there is. However, it sometimes fails to scan the 2D code. Get it here

You can also use the Nokia scanner to download it straight from your device:

UpCode

UpCode is the best QR Code reader there is for the N95. This reader recognizes every detail that you add into a QR Code Business Card and also has a nice design, The negative aspect is that it is the one that takes the most time to scan a code (just a few more seconds). Get it here.

You can also use the Nokia scanner to download it straight from your device:

Tell me what do you think. Which reader do you prefer?

Google Maps 3.0 with Google Latitude

Sharing your location gets easier every day. Google has recently launched Google Latitude, a feature that comes built-in in the latest version of Google Maps Mobile (3,0). With Google Latitude people will be able to share their location in real time with other users they decide to add. For example, I am using Latitude right now and I have added my brother as a Latitude contact, therefore I can see that he has left work and he is heading downtown. What's exciting here, is that I can see how he moves in real time!

In addition to all of this, you can decide to send your contacts a text message of call them just by selecting on their icon. If you are worried about privacy issues Google provides you with several privacy restrictions that you can apply. Have fun using the software!

Download the application here, or scan the QR Code below to get it straight to your phone.

Opera Mini 4.2

If you are looking to browse the web using a different browser than the one that comes pre-installed on the N95, Opera has launched the new Opera Mini 4.2. This version comes with unique features, like the option to personalize the skin of the browser and synchronize your notes. It also offers video support, meaning that you will be able to watch videos from YouTube and several other sites that offer similar services. Get it here, or scan the code below from your device.

Twitter Applications For The N95

It is my opinion that there isn't a fully efficient Twitter application for S60 devices, but there are some decent ones like Twibble, Twitteresce, and Fring.

Twibble

Twibble is a software developed by a German company. It obviously allows you to update your Twitter status, besides that it also gives you the chance to update your location using the built-in GPS- the bad part of this feature is that when your contacts see your update that contains your location, they only find your coordinates instead of a link that would take you to Google Maps or something like that, you can only find yourself in map if you are using the twibble desktop software. Get the application here, or scan the code below to get it straight to your phone.

Twitteresce

This one is a simple application. You post your updates, and can also see what the people you follow are up to but nothing else. Not that great since it fails to login very often and drains your battery. Download it here, or scan the code below to get it.

Fring

Finally, there is Fring. This application is mainly designed to use Skype with your mobile, but they have added the option to post your twitter updates as well. The good part (or anoying part, as you wish) is that you get real-time updates of what the people you follow are posting, so unless you mute your phone it can drive you crazy. Get Fring here.

Mobbler, Listen To Any Song On Your N95

Are you familiar with last.fm? It is a radio service that allows you to listen to virtually any song in the world, you just have to create yourself an account with them, and type the name of the track you desire. If you don't have an account, hurry up and go to www.last.fm to get one. Why? well, the application Mobbler that runs on the N95 allows you to listen to use your last.fm account- that is, to have any song using only your mobile!

The program gives you the ability to create playlists, and share your favorite songs with other users. The sound quality is really neat, and I say this is one of the best N95 music applications there is. Download it here, or even better, scan the code below to get it straight to your cell phone.
